graphics:
Pixel Art
Pixel art is a form of art, produced in raster graphics, especially in the gaming industry where an image is made up pixel by pixel to create an overall somewhat realistic image. Pixel art is done by producing a 2D image for a game. Although it can rarely be done in 3D for some games. Examples of pixel art include old computers, graphic calculators, even old mobile phone games. A game including pixel art is "super mario bros (NES)" which was a retro game on the NES entertainment system. Because this platform was low resolution for today's standards, it needed to save memory by using this technique.
Concept Art
Concept art is a common form of art culture in the gaming industry, and is a crucial requirement to a game's development. Concept art is a very broad sector of the industry, it can be involved with characters in a video game, backgrounds, level terrain, entities and objects. Concept art is changed a lot when developing a game, the concept art is a kind of template for a game, usually either done in traditional formats of art (such as pen, ink, pencil) using paper or digital techniques and software such as photo shop, after effects for animations etc.
Texture Art
Texture art is the art of surfaces in most games. For instance, the walls of a corridor or the wood in a door. Texture art can be important in some games, although in the graphics settings, a majority of the time texture graphics can be reduced in order to improve game play ability. Texture art is to make the game seem a lot more realistic and to try and to "trick the eye" to think the game is more life like. The video below shows texture art of assassin's creed 2 and how some textures are used over and over.
Background Graphics
Background graphics are created by the background artist, the background graphics are the UI and the background of the game. An example of this is the user inteface in starcraft II

As shown, the user interface is what the player see's constantly, it stays with them as they scroll through the world. The background graphics of the game frame in Starcraft 2 shows differently depending on the race that is picked: Terran, Zerg, Protoss. This shows a level of unique user interface because not many games have a changing interface they usually have 1 template.
Aswell as this, league of legends shows how the graphics vary between playable regions and non playable "background" regions.
As shown in the image above. the main pathway of the map is highly detailed compared to the background region such as the gorges of ice behind and below the bridge. Also, the ice looks much more simple as the detail has been saved for the path way to allow the game to run more smoothly.
Print Media Art
Print media art is the out of the game art that is done, mainly focused around advertisement, production, and packaging. For instance, when producing a game. A package for the game needs to be displayed this could come in the form of a case for a game. However, merchandise and other forms of advertisement such as posters is also made through print media art. For instance, any figurines or collectibles that a game sells also need to be accounted for and designed. A great example of the values of merchandise are the star wars films and games, they bring in lots more income than the games themselves because they are both designed well and people like
